A. John Hart
Co-Founder and Chief Scientist

John Hart is Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At Michigan, John leads the Mechanosynthesis Group, whose research seeks to expand the science, manufacturing, and applications of nanostructures and novel nanostructured materials. John teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in design, manufacturing, and micro/nanotechnology. He also holds a courtesy appointment as Assistant Professor of Art and Design. John has Ph.D. (2006) and S.M. (2002) degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.S.E (2000) degree from the University of Michigan, all in Mechanical Engineering.
Tom Serbowicz
Co-Founder and VP of Manufacturing

Tom Serbowicz is currently practicing as a test engineer in the aerospace industry where he is working in the field of experimental dynamics. Tom received his B.S.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2008. During his time at Michigan, Tom contributed to research developing a force model for bimetallic face grinding, as well as research investigating the control of a hopping robot with an artificial neural oscillator.
Steve Vozar
Co-Founder and VP of Technology

Steve Vozar is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Steve is currently a research assistant in the Ground Robotics Reliability Center (GRRC), focusing on improving mobile robot reliability via enhanced user-interfaces. His research interests include human-robot interaction, mobile robot teleoperation, augmented reality systems, mobile robot simulation, and control of robot swarms. Past research includes the development of optical diagnostic tests for fire retardants. Steve holds an M.S.E (2009) and a B.S.E. (2008) from the University of Michigan, both in Mechanical Engineering.
L. Devon Triplett
Engineering Project Manager

In 2009, Devon Triplett received her M.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan.  Her research focused on the interaction between folic acid and folate binding protein using single molecule force spectroscopy, for targeted drug delivery in cancer treatment.  She also worked as a research assistant developing applications for DNA-based molecular robots and studied their behavior at the single molecule level using total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy and single particle tracking analysis.  Devon graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2003 with a B.S. in Physics.
Company History

Absolute Nano was founded in 2007 to commercialize novel instruments for laboratory-scale synthesis of nanostructured materials.  Absolute Nano’s initial technologies were created through research at the University of Michigan and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Our team has interdisciplinary expertise in materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, manufacturing, and nanotechnology.  Our first two products, the SabreTube Desktop Thermal Processing System (2007) and the SpinGrower Layer-by-Layer Assembly System (2009), received prestigious R&D 100 Awards.
